Thought Untangler

I'll show you a knotted thought. Tap the parts that feel unfair to yourself, and we'll reword them kinder.

Pick a thought to practice on. They're all common ones:

Spotting thinking traps helps loosen their grip on how you feel.

A cognitive distortion checker without the worksheet

Thought Untangler shows you a knotted thought, the kind everyone has, and asks which thinking trap is hiding in it. Worst case thinking. Always and never. Guessing what other people think.

Once you have named it, you get to reword the thought more kindly. Not cheerfully, and not by pretending everything is fine. Just fairer than the first version was.

You can practise on the ready made ones, which is what most people do first, or bring a thought of your own. Anything you type stays on your device and is not stored or sent anywhere.

It runs about three minutes. The point is the noticing rather than the score, and there is no score.

A quick note, because it matters: this is a thought reframing tool to play with, not support, and not a substitute for talking to someone. If things feel heavy, the app keeps gentle links to real help, always free.

If you want more, we wrote about how reframing works when you have more time on the Ponoki blog.
